MORNING
Hello Toast | 428 Victoria St
A great way to start your day off right in Kamloops is at Hello Toast. An amazing local breakfast and lunch cafe run by families and friends, that uses fresh meat and produce from community sources as often as they can. Whether you are looking for something sweet or savory, Hello Toast has it all, right in central downtown Kamloops.
Amplified Cafe | 465 Victoria St
Almost directly across the street, Amplified Cafe will take care of all of your to-go needs. From a quick coffee to homemade treats, Amplified has your cravings covered.
Kamloops Art Gallery | 465 Victoria St
If you are interested in contemporary art, Kamloops Art Gallery is a must-see for you. Exhibitions change several times a year, so art lovers can keep coming back for more season after season. The current one will last till December 31, 2022. It is called Witnessing and features striking mixed media works by Alicia Henry.
LUNCH AND AFTERNOON
Casa Azul | 330 Victoria St
Venture downtown and visit the Casa Azul to experience authentic Mexican cuisine. Immerse yourself in the bright colours and lively atmosphere of the family-owned restaurant. Prices are affordable and worth the stop for the flavourful cultural dishes.
Kamloops Wildlife Park | 9077 Dallas Drive
Learn more about the local wildlife around Kamloops British Columbia and experience a wonderful family-friendly environment. The park is a reserve dedicated to taking in injured animals, providing a healing space, and eventually immersing them back into the wild. This unique park showcases the local and natural wildlife the Thompson Cariboo area has to offer through interactive learning.
Shopping | Victoria St
Sometime during the day you might want to check out a few shops along Victoria Street. Far & Wide offers various home decor knick-knacks and accessories, Jardines Domaine and Main Street Clothing Co specialize in apparel, but our personal favourite is a relatively new thrift store – Lys’s Thrift Shop. The pieces are carefully curated and colour coordinated which makes shopping easy and enjoyable, and their minimalistic changing rooms with full length mirrors are a great place to take a few pictures for your Instagram!
EVENING
Evenings in Kamloops can be an experience you will remember as long as you know a few places to go. Kamloops houses a bunch of different fantastic venues for dinner. The first one I would recommend is The Brownstone. Brownstone is known for its healthy portions and great steak and potatoes so if you’re looking for a good family-friendly place to eat it’s the place to be. For those who are more financially aware the prices at Brownstone are well formatted to help families with deals and specials that will blow your mind. A more adult-centralized area to spend your dinners in Kamloops is the Sandbar and grill. Sandbar has a great atmosphere if you’re looking for a good time, good food, and good people to spend a part of the evening around. (By Deacon Wright)
Blue Grotto | 319 Victoria St
Live music and a nice atmosphere are what you need after a long day of exploring Kamloops. The bar is located downtown within walking distance of the hotels and restaurants. Local BC musicians come to Blue Grotto regularly to play on weekend nights. The tickets usually are not more than $10, which is definitely worth it. If you’re tired, check out their terrace and enjoy the Kamloops night outside. Great place to finish your night at!
